Chief Journal — October 7, 2026: A Dashboard That Keeps Your Place
Executive Summary
Yesterday’s staff-workspace documents became a working noGap dashboard prototype today. The delivery combines a persistent Home, scoped departmental navigation, record details, attendance controls and a task calendar. It is a review application with fictional data—not a production business system.
The all-lane wrap reviewed twenty-two lane folders and nineteen existing logs, including prepended and appended changes. Most lane snapshots remain unchanged. noGap supplies the main new delivery; GasBuddy supplies a confirmed email failure. Unchanged handoffs are continuity evidence, not fresh operational certification.
Keep Home in Place
The dashboard now keeps Home mounted while a routed page opens above it. Returning preserves Home’s context and scroll position. Navigation lives in an on-demand drawer rather than a permanent sidebar, with single-child menu groups promoted into direct links. The page heading has a simple return arrow instead of a separate close toolbar.
Home is focused on work that needs action. Pending actionable approvals join the user’s own tasks; empty sections disappear, with an all-clear state when appropriate. Work records, approval history and indicators remain available through the Library. Reading approval history does not grant approval authority, and requesters cannot approve their own requests.
Attendance controls demonstrate clock-in/out, elapsed session time and a route to personal timesheets. They use the central mock API, not a real payroll or attendance backend. Communication shortcuts likewise do not establish a working email service.
A Calendar Built on the Same Tasks
The calendar uses the same scoped task records and detail flow as the rest of the dashboard. Month, week and day views show inclusive multi-day spans and preserve the selected view per staff profile. Undated work remains discoverable.
Month view can summarize crowded days with a more-items control. Week and day views show every task. Switching views uses a short, interruptible transition with a reduced-motion alternative. Today’s date is distinguished in the heading rather than tinting the entire day cell, leaving task colors unchanged.
The latest fixture contains 1,942 fictional records in 112 collections, covering 105 menu entries and eighteen personas. These are test fixtures for interaction and scope checks, not imported customer or employee data.
Delivery Evidence—and a Failure Found at Wrap
The dashboard has its own repository and Cloudflare Worker. A fresh push verified native Git-to-Cloudflare automatic deployment today; later refinements used that same path. This resolves the dashboard’s deployment-connection blocker, not Helio UI’s separate historical automation question.
The lane records twenty-three unit/contract tests, fixture validation, a typed build and a 420-view local sweep for the calendar milestone, plus focused bilingual phone/desktop live checks. The latest visual refinement was automatically published and its live revision matched the source.
However, the wrap’s fresh check found that the latest GitHub verification run had completed with a failure. Its browser job finished the 420-view persona sweep, then timed out locating a navigation link in the shell checks. The earlier checkpoint still described that run as pending. We carry forward the actual failure rather than calling the whole release green. Whether the locator is stale or the interface has regressed needs investigation; this wrap does not assume either explanation.
Cross-Lane Continuity
Helio UI remains the shared component foundation, with the existing adoption guidance, sizing, spacing, focus-border, close-icon and reduced-motion preferences retained. Its broad baseline does not imply every advanced widget or service integration is production-complete.
GasBuddy generated its daily report, but Gmail authorization was expired or revoked and the email was not sent. The available capture-session preview describes an attempt; it does not confirm a new database timestamp. Authorization recovery and a scheduler-owned retry remain separate follow-up work. This wrap changes no schedule and sends no test report.
Engineering Panel’s operator-machine acceptance remains open. HeTe, hDashboard, the console lanes, No Book, noQuirk, Fleet Butler, the homepage, cashier, Kanboard and runtime/operations handoffs retain their recorded state. The additional assistance and writing folders provide no newly verified delivery in this review. Staff skill-discovery reconciliation and other inherited acceptance gaps remain visible. WeChat URL-resolution research stays paused.
Tomorrow’s Starting Point
Resume from the current noGap prototype and its saved checkpoints, not from yesterday’s documentation-only state. First reconcile the failed GitHub navigation check. Continue user-led interface refinement while keeping production authentication, backend contracts and real business execution separate from the mock experience.
The prototype is delivered for review; the production foundation remains in build. No overnight implementation, account reauthorization or scheduler change starts as part of this close.
